Organic lawn products encourage the growth of a thick, lovely green lawn while providing a chemical-free environment for children and pets. There is a simple test for soil composition that you perform by picking up a handful of moist (not wet) soil, strongly squeezing it, and then open up the hand. If the soil falls apart right away you have sandy soil, if it maintains its shape until you touch it and then crumbles you have loamy soil, or if it keeps its shape even after a poke of your finger it is clay soil. As soon as you know the type of soil you have you can get the right organic fertilizers to provide all the nutrients healthy lawn requires. Compost is always a recommended additive to your soil because it is nutrient-rich and helps the soil to retain water. Another recommended landscaping plan is to add vegetation natural to your area, which can help with soil balance.
Sod is grass rooted in dirt that is produced in segments and is used by professional landscapers for lawn development. Developing a lawn out of sod is the fastest way to get results but it’s also more expensive. Sod will quickly dry out if you fail to lay it down fast enough, so be sure you understand what you need to do at each step before you even start. Once you get all the sections of sod installed make sure to water it two or three times a day but don’t over-water it or you might drown the roots. You need to properly fertilize the sod without damaging the roots, so be careful in the application of chemical fertilizers. Do your best to keep people and pets off the new turf until those it can root firmly in the ground. Regular lawn maintenance will call for you to begin mowing it after a couple of weeks and make sure to fertilize it about once a month.
